Sepilok is a rehabilitation centre committed in protecting the dwindling population of orangutans.
They rescue orangutans held captive, bring them back to the centre, nurture them until they are able to be independent and release them into the wild.
At the rehabilitation centre, the apes learn to climb, to build nests, to keep away from predators and so on.
Orangutans are tree dwelling creatures. With strong hands and feet, they climb and swing from tree to tree.
Silence must be observed strictly by visitors at the centre.
These apes can be found only in Borneo and Sumatra.
This creature was building its nest. The orangutans make fresh nests every day on the trees.
A visit to the centre is not complete without reflecting the role we can play in the preservation efforts. Love the nature, do your part.
