It was almost 18:00 when we reached the famous Tip Of Borneo, locally known as Tanjung Simpang Mengayau – just in time to catch the amazing sunset!
Now some facts about the island- It’s located at the northern-most tip of Borneo and is the third largest island in the world. This is the junction where the South China Sea meets the Sulu Sea .
The tip is where the finger pointed at- the top of the Borneo chunk.
The sun sets so lovingly here, and the sight of it is both mesmerizing and enchanting. There’s a perfect blend of balmy wind, glinting waters and earthly shades around. From the tip, see how the waters from the west kisses the waters from the east under the spell of the golden sun.
The walkway to the tip.
The highest viewing point here is called Tomanggong Kurantoa, in honor of a Rungus warrior who led a fight in the battle against the pirates around Simpang Mengayau. From this point, you could see the sandy beach which is the Pantai Kalampunian on your left.
With wandering waters as our backdrop, we grouped to seal that moment.
And that moment was resplendent. : )
